Geguti Palace is 7 kilometers away from Kutaisi and is located on the territory of Tskaltubo.
The palace was built in 8th – 12th centuries. It represented the royal palace of the royal family and also it was the fortress. At first Geguti palace belonged to Georgian Kings residence, but lately, in feudal times it was in possession by Imereti Kings residence.
Geguti palace was destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century. Only ruins are preserved.
At the end of the nineteenth century the first researcher of Geguti Palace was swiss researcher and professor Dubois de Montpéreux.
